Underhållmässan, the Swedish Maintenance Fair, brings the entire industry together to find smart solutions to common challenges. It’s a place for collaboration and dialogue between all players in the maintenance industry. Gothenburg Technical College is one of the fair’s partners and Johan Bengtsson, Technology Development Manager and Project Manager, is looking forward to participating in fruitful discussions on operational reliability and sustainability at the 2024 edition.
– It is an incredibly important meeting place and a great opportunity to meet many different people in a short time. If you had to book separately every single meeting that you can have here, you would need a whole month. Whereas at the Swedish Maintenance Fair, you can meet everyone in one day. It is simply one of the most important meeting places for industry.
Gothenburg Technical College is a certified technical academy. It runs activities in higher vocational education, business education, validation, projects and development as well as being a higher secondary school. Much of the focus is on digitalisation and skills supply in small and large companies.
– We are one of Underhållmässan’s partners and organise activities at all the fairs, having participated as an exhibitor since 2010. It is a fantastic forum and a rare meeting place. It’s always great fun to meet all the different players from all parts of the maintenance sector.
“We need a holistic view on maintenance”
Some of the most important questions about industrial maintenance and safety are about operational reliability, maintenance economy, sustainability and competence supply. Johan believes that the Swedish Maintenance Fair is an extremely important arena for gathering industry professionals around these common challenges. The fair creates a good environment for finding smart solutions through rewarding dialogues.
– Every company we talk to has a shortage of maintenance technicians. When new factories are built, there will be a scramble for new and existing expertise. It is a major challenge to meet the needs we see in today’s industry. All of us who work in maintenance must step up. A skilled operator can, for example, with the right support and training, work as a technician.
Johan believes that a holistic view of maintenance is needed in the future. If we maintain the equipment correctly, we get higher productivity and better overall economy.
– Basically, we need a holistic view of maintenance. For example, you can’t just count the investment cost when buying a machine. You have to look at the whole picture to achieve social, economic and ecological sustainability.
Johan is looking forward to seeing visitors leave the 2024 edition of the fair with fresh inspiration, taking away new knowledge and having made new contacts to expand their network.
