Hello there! Sandra Mattsson at RISE

sandra-mattsson-riseMaintenance 2020 takes place on 10-13 March. One of the developments is close collaboration with several key players in the maintenance industry who are working on talent supply, not least to attract more women. We took the pulse of Sandra Mattsson of RISE, Sweden’s research institute and innovation partner, to hear her thoughts before Underhållsmässan, the Maintenance Fair.

Hi Sandra!
You recently appeared as a speaker at Women Power at the Hanover Messe. What were your take-aways from the conference and what do you see as an urgent need for discussion at the Maintenance Fair in March, based on the Swedish industry’s prerequisites and needs for the right skills in the coming years?

– Hi! Sweden has come a long way and it was fun to see that it was given some visibility during the Women Power conference, for example in a panel discussion where Anders Ygeman spoke about Sweden as having the first feminist government. Ours is a successful country compared to Germany! When I look at our industry, I also feel that we are on the right track. However, we lack the language and methods required to benefit fully from our diversity. In fact, we are working against it in many ways. So in order to meet the future challenges of digitalisation, with a lack of skills, with poor health at work and workplaces that do not support role-sharing, we must meet our staff and start working with a structured approach to inclusion and diversity. We will talk about this in greater depth at Underhållsmässan together with invited partners in the programme.

On 4 June this year, RISE and FKG will arrange a workshop on the subject through Production 2030. Read more and register here (SWE). »
